Does Smarty have issues with users accessing Whatsapp? I have just got a Smarty SIM in my existing LG phone and moved from GiffGaff. I got my mother a new Samsung Galaxy phone and got a Smarty SIM for that too, replacing the old GiffGaff one in her old LG phone. Both existing phone numbers ported to new SIMs. Outside of wifi connections we now have no data connection to Whatsapp. Everything else on both phones work and we have lots of data but no messaging is being sent or being received via Whatsapp. It all works on wifi but my mother needs to use her data as she has no wifi connection. It all previously worked with GiffGaff. Can this be sorted?

Issue sorted by going to connections then mobile networks and manually selecting SMARTY instead of the automatic selection setting . Did this on both phones and issue is resolved.

Just Google do smarty users have problems verifying WhatsApp.
There’s your answer .
majority can’t verify WhatsApp.
please fix this . As the data allowance is superbly cheap . Or the other ( calls and texts ) we can get on any other provider .
CHEAP has to equate to WORKS .

Sadly yes . Majority say same . WhatsApp isn’t compatible with smarty verification process .
Google agrees.

@LynnPLA_3357194 All very strange because many of us on Smarty are also using WhatsApp with no issue from the outset.

@DerekCo_3325890 There is usually no problem with using WhatsApp on smarty from experience.
Are both phones working on data generally? When you use a new phone for WhatsApp, are you sure that all of the settings have transferred across? Worth trying a fresh install of that app?

I tried typing in that too mps blahhh . Didn’t fix it . Sadly it just didn’t . Doesn’t work WhatsApp. So the sim is defunct to me I’d like a refund of a tenner but they won’t .

@DerekCo_3325890 Good news that it is sorted and thanks for letting the forum know that..
Not sure why the phone would not pick up Smarty network automatically if it has a smarty sim in it though. Do you have a dual sim phone by any chance or have used an Esim on it? In that case, you may need to check which sim is primary (Smarty in this case).Perhaps an idea to mark an 'Accepted Solution' so that people can see the solution easily.

It’s not though as I tried that too.

No neither phone has a dual SIM.
