As above, old number disconnected but I can still login to my online account. If I pick up a SIM in a high street store, can I somehow connect it to my existing login?

If you create a group plan in your existing login, you can add a new SIM card to your group plan in your login @MichaelW_481325.
To get the group plan 10% discount, you need more than one SIM in your group plan.

If you actually closed off the account, then I think the number is lost. But then, you say you can log in - does the number show on your dashboard?
If you merely paused the purchase of a plan for less than 180 days, you can restart it by buying a plan. If you have simply lost the sim, you can ask Smarty to replace it as "lost or stolen".
If you can carefully explain exactly what happened to Support Team via web chat, I'm sure they can sort out the most appropriate step for you.
