Having come from another similar similar network (I don't know if mentioning other network names is allowed, so I'll refer to it as "the other network"), I was given monthly discounts and freebies. I do miss those, but the Smarty promotion I am currently on is 47.5% cheaper! Considering the other networks' offerings, I would love to see Smarty offer a loyalty rewards scheme. It would include things like...

- Monthly (or more frequently!) freebies and discounts. Think things like free ice cream from a supermarket, discounted Vue or Odeon cinema tickets

The option to exchange the available at the time reward for the value of the reward would be a nice unique option. For example, the reward is a £2 gift card for free ice cream at a supermarket. You could instead get a £2 Smarty account credit or 2GB of data (both with a value of £2) - this would still be available if all rewards have been claimed. This way, no one misses out and if the reward is not something you fancy, you still get a nice extra... and something the other network doesn't offer!

I would like to add a new comment with some more ideas

💸 More conversions! - I love how cheap Smarty's add-ons are! I like how you can convert out of plan add-ons to account balance. I think you should be able to convert data add-ons to account balance as well, and the rate would be the same as it is for those on data discount plans... Smarty would still calculate your unused data in MBs, not GBs, so you'll get exactly what’s due when converting data add-ons to account balance. This would only work with purchased add-ons, not inclusive data allowance

Why would this be beneficial?:

1 - A customer may have purchased data add-ons to keep them going for a day or so, before their allowance refreshes

2 - A customer may decide a different add-on like UK Unlimited Data Pass would work better

3 - A customer may have changed their plan to unlimited, making previously purchased data add-ons pointless. The converted balance could go towards their plan renewal instead

🎂 Happy Birthday! - If a customer has given their date of birth on sign up or through account settings, they can choose one add-on for free during their Birthday month. The available add-ons would be of the same value. For example:

"Happy Birthday from Smarty! We're treating you to any add-on up to the value of £5! Here's what you can get: 5GB Data add-on, 3 days unlimited UK data pass, and more - visit the Smarty app or your Smarty web dashboard to claim"

🎁 🤝 Helping Hand! - For customers using the Smarty Group Plan feature, gifting data to another member of the group could be a feature. Of course, the data would come from the person gifting it. Let's say for example Andy has 100GB and gifts 10GB to Bob who has 0GB left... Andy now has 90GB and Bob is a happy chap with 10GB data

I hope these ideas help Smarty become an even better network!

Edit - I have another idea. I figured it would be best to add it to this comment instead of create multiple new comments. Data rollover would be a nice feature, and especially helpful to those on lower data allowance plans who don't use all of their data monthly (but would still apply to all plans, of course apart from unlimited data plans)

I’d like to see eSIM for one. 😉

But more importantly, if you have an unlimited data plan or a decent amount of data, maybe the option to share that eSIM to an additional phone or an Apple Watch, etc.

I don’t understand why companies charge you to use the same plan on an Apple Watch / Android smartwatch. Smarty could be the game changer and make the same number and data plan available at no additional charge for smart watch users.

Another vote for eSim here.

Also short code messages.

More 5G cell mast and more use of other service providers equipment

Hi I have an idea ? How about installing a 5G cell mast in more city's or have more of an agreement with the service provider you use to be allowed to use their 5G equipment more towns and cities can benefit from faster speeds. I've noticed that Scotland is limited for 5G signal apart from some major towns and cities but the further you go up into the Cairngorms and further the 5G does pretty much become non existent. I've also found that other smaller towns and villages do not have 5G either, and this is a real pain because sometimes the 4G signal isn't so great either. However we all have to manage our expectations when it comes to the service you provide as remembering the price point for such service would probably warrant the signal of 5G to be slowly rolled out hopefully to the towns and cities that so desperately need a faster speed and excellent signal strength when travelling through Scotland.. I'm not sure what other service providers are offering when it comes to 5G but 8 knows BT does indeed offer 5G as standard in all its areas! Can this be done Smarty as a standard, I mean if a price increase is needed to compensate the continuous rollout of 5G on you network in more towns and cities then let's go.  Any way thanks for listening to my ask and maybe just one day I will see the magical 5G logo popup on phone to where I live.

@DTyllye_2689832 Sorry, but I disagree with you here. Many of us use Smarty because what it provides is enough for our needs. Personally, a signal that allows me to make and accept calls in most places I go, plus a bit of internet use while out, does the job.

5G is fine and dandy, but not an essential and I certainly don't want to be paying more for it. Do we actually NEED 5G for most activity?

Smarty runs off the back of Three and so is limited to what's on offer - remember that they are both owned by the same company.

Respect your answer but you forget, that their already customers out there that do want 5G to be fitted to the cell mast so it gives them a luxurious signal and speed for their needs. 5G is essential for some but not everyone this is due to the signal strength in the area they love in. Although 4G is most of the time ok, it's in some cases just not cutting the cloth for the strength for some devices to gain the maximum signal strength, like a previous thread I was commenting in, the factors can be obstacles and the premises you are in can affect the signal. And 5G would indeed help this considerably in the hunt for better connectivity. How ever like you say Do we need 5G for most activities? Well it does depend on the activity really so in my opinion this would warrant  an activity that we do need 5G for everyone to benefit from. I think it also depends on where you are in you life as well. Because perhaps the younger you are you are wanting it all because connectivity is everywhere and is everything for a younger person. Again my opinion. Social apps and online constant connectivity is needed. But perhaps for the older person "I'm not stereo typing I promise"  doesn't need the more complicated things in life like a mobile device that's connected with social media. So the basic function and connectivity on a lower level for calls and texts is suffice for some people. So 5G in all is suited for some but not for all. And also ones budget is also important as we are all not flush like kings but perhaps more like everyday working class citizens..

@DTyllye_2225432  I think you may have proved my point here.

Yes, some people do want and maybe even need the full 'bells and whistles' service of 5G. It is out there and they can get it......but they will probably have to pay more to get it.

What we have with Smarty is a service at a reasonable price with no lengthy contracts. Those who want something better can get it, but they may need to go to a full provider and pay accordingly.

An analogy is a new car. You can get a basic model that will get you from A to B and be quite reliable at what may be a good price. If you want the better sound system and full leather, electrically adjustable seats, automatic gearbox and accident avoidance gadgets, that's also available but you may need to go to another retailer and pay considerably more to fulfil your wishes.
