Numbers being blocked

Had a few issues today . Had to contact Apple to sort out my new computer . They tried to ring me back …. First attempt went straight through to voicemail even though I was connected to WiFi calling at home . Contacted smarty to deactivate voicemail ( strange that you have to get smarty to deactivate your voicemail !!) and then on second and third attempt they tried to contact me the number appeared to have been blocked , luckily they rang me on my house phone to advise of such.

My phone is not set up to block any numbers so why did this happen ? The number Apple used , although is in Ireland , starts with +353

any ideas ?

Hey @SimonCr_2335507, I've also had calls going to voicemail instead of ringing through, while I've been using WiFi Calling. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to this behaviour, so I've just accepted it's going to  happen sometimes.

Hi I also have a similar issue with a called appearing to be blocked but I have not blocked it and it does not show in my blocked calls . It is important that I can receive calls on this number . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@WilliamT_247204 Do you mean that someone says they called you, but there is no evidence of that?

Were they in the UK? Were they dialling your number correctly, from contact list, with +44 maybe?

I was due to receive an important call this morning from a call centre number this morning starting with 0203. The callers say that number said they had been blocked from calling. I have checked my settings and there is no reason why this is happening on my iPhone 15. IOS 18

@JohnSte_2003389  Firstly, check your dashboard to see that you are showing an active Smarty plan with an active sim.

Secondly, get someone to call you  - ideally from both a landline and a mobile.

Thirdly, do you necessarily believe what the call centre said? Did they definitely have the correct number?

Fourthly, do a Network Status check to see if there is any local mast issue.

Finally, if the issue persists, you may need a web chat with smarty Support.

Thank you for the reply. I have had this issue before when someone tried to call me from a call centre number. I believe this is the issue. I have checked all of the above and they are all fine, I checked the phone  number with the call centre. They are a health care provider and a trustworthy source.

@JohnSte_2003389  I often wonder if there is an issue with different systems talking to each other.

I assume that the caller is using an internet telephony and this is then trying to connect with a mobile network (in this case 3/Smarty). Could the different protocols clash at times?

Too many electrons buzzing around? Too much clever hi-tech? Why don't they simply send you a telegram? 😁
