As the title reads, my RCS chat for Google Messages has been stuck on "setting up" since getting my Smarty SIM and porting my old number to it.
There was a brief period where I had both new and old SIM cards in the phone (S22) as I needed data but also needed to be contactable while I waited for the port to finish but it's just the Smarty SIM now in slot 1.
I've tried all of the usual steps such as clearing the data for messages and carrier settings, restarting, etc but nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions before I give up?

I run an iPhone and mine is also showing that RCS is waiting for activation. That is because it is in competition with iMessage from Apple though and not currently supported (but it may come some time).

Yeah, tried all of the usual setup and troubleshooting steps but nothing seems to work.
I may give it a week and try again. From what I've read the Google RCS servers can be finicky.
