When anyone calls my number they get “number not recognised” - check number, dial again.
Calls should divert to voicemail, which was working when I left UK. They are not.
I am in Montenegro. All my settings correct for roaming. I am receiving texts and can use data.
Any ideas why my number appears to have been deactivated? Not getting through is one thing, but I am getting messages asking if my number has changed as the message says “not recognised”.

@SamNewm_1223548 I cannot see that your number would have been deactivated because you wouldn't receive texts or be able to use data in that case.
As Montenegro is not EU, there is a charge to receive calls and so you would need credit on the account - please see Price Guide p19 & p20. A text is free to receive anywhere, but not sure how you are using data unless you have add on credit (sure it's not wifi?).

I know - weird, right? Surely a number either works, or it doesn't.
I can make calls.
I can send/receive texts to the number.
I have plenty of "add on" £££ (and can see it going down when I am not on wifi).
I am not talking to Smarty direct - who are equally scratching their heads. We've tried lots of things - next step is to try my sim in another phone (and another sim in mine) - which I can't do until later today.

@SamNewm_1223548 Do you think there is any chance that your phone is flipping between different networks in different countries? I just wonder if that may be confusing the system when people call you.
Can you contact those people via something like WhatsApp instead? I realise that doesn't fully answer the query though.

Good thought - but I am solidly in Montenegro, nowhere near a border.
I can call other people - but they can't call me. It's causing quite a bit of concern - I am getting texts/emails from people asking whether my number has changed as it says "not recognised" and asks them to check how they dialled. It's not even redirecting to voicemail.

@SamNewm_1223548 One last 'stab in the dark' - have they tried calling you with a +44 at the start of your number?
