I’m currently using my iPhone 15 abroad and it can only hold an E signal and not the 4G signal that my wife’s phone is using. There is a strong 4G signal where we are staying. Any ideas to what needs updating?

For anyone else getting the same problem, a workaround whilst roaming was to fix the phone on 4G via Settings - Mobile Services - Mobile data options - Voice and Data - 4G
This holds the 4G signal and the phone doesn’t drop to E anymore. Just need to remember to set back to 5G Auto when returning home.

Did you update your APN setting, as advised here?

@KB0703 Are you on the same network as your wife? Worth changing settings to manual network election rather than automatic and finding the best one available.

Thanks for the reply. My wife’s phone is also roaming and picks up the same carrier. Her iPhone SE holds the 4G signal.
i have found a workaround and that is to fix my phone to a 4G setting in the ‘Voice and Data’ in the mobile settings menu. It was set to 5G Auto previously.
I will just need to remember to set it back when I go home.
