eSIM / Apple Watch plan compatibility.

Perhaps a little disappointing that over six months after this post was started, not one idea has been implemented.

Does this mean that the whole section was merely a sop to make people think that Smarty really did want to implement new ideas?

I do realise that many of the ideas may be non-starters, but I question what was the point if nothing has changed?

Hi 👋🏻

I'm new to Smarty having switched this week from "elsewhere", as you do.

So far so good from my experience. I love the pricing, having WiFi calling for at home and the ability to swap my monthly packs as and when I want/need to. I also love having the EU roaming option at no extra costs too; one of the main reasons for me switching to SMARTY.

If I was to make any recommendations or pose suggestions they would only be the following:

  1. Some form of rewards feature. Competitor networks have a selection of cool rewards and competitions (like the network I've just left) and at times these were excellent, providing discounts on items and products, through to competitions and other offers.
  2. eSIM compatibility is a brilliant option. It saves on physical SIMs and it reduces plastic usage from a sustainability perspective. I made use of this on my previous network and it's seamless.
  3. Consider increasing the roaming data limit from 12GB to perhaps 20GB. We, as a world nowadays, are data crazy. When abroad it isn't always easy to find WiFi or free hotspots. Having a larger cushion for data when on holiday would be super, even as a relatively low data user myself.

I haven't any complaints so far with SMARTY. I have had to contact customer services twice surrounding the porting in of my mobile number and the guys were excellent. I'm very pleased to be onboard. Worth every penny.

Cheers everyone.

Andy

@DJANDYMYERS  What about the hotel on Mayfair and £200 for passing Go ?!?!

This is a low price, no frills network and I don't think you can realistically expect all of those things.

@MSF  Well, if you’re getting technical, SMARTY is 3 PAYG in disguise. 3 PAYG customers get access to the 3+ app for rewards etc. I don’t see why this couldn’t be opened up to SMARTY users too ? As per the post, it’s only a suggestion and hardly a demand.

A suggestion of further / more EU roaming data is also only a suggestion, given competitor MVNOs such as Lebara offer 30GB while roaming. 12GB isn’t bad, far from it, but again as per the post this is a suggestion not a demand.

As for eSIMs, hardly essential. Just a nice to have. Just a suggestion to enable new users in particular to get onto the network quicker.

so yea, no need for a Mayfair meal and £200 for sweet FA MSF. I hardly think my suggestions warrant that, nor the implication of anything along those lines 👍🏻😊

@DJANDYMYERS  But then the smallest package with Three is £10 per month and so there must be a greater cache flow into the business to support so called 'freebies'

Lebara will admittedly allow you to roam up to 30Gb of data - but to take full advantage, you need the £15 plan.

Esims - not sure about this one but I do wonder if there is some cost element that stops smarty going forward on it - they never have told us as far as I know.

@YulianK  Since your original post starting this section in March 2024, there have been a number of ideas.

Admittedly some of those were non-starters from the outset. and indeed some were 'tongue-in-cheek' I think.

Smarty has put three into review, but none have been accepted or delivered. Is it possible for us humble forumites to know why the wheels grind so slowly?
