Using Huawei with Smarty add on in western australia

In Perth (also heading to Melbourne).

I want to use smarty with add on purchased as described in the Smarty advice. Settings are. Correct (access point names).

But under settings / mobile / network selection Automatic,  nothing is found (in Perth)

if I let it search it finds 4 networks but testing these invdividually nothing works. (“Network registration failed”). How can I get online?

so I bought £10 add on but it won’t work. (Not a financial issue, it’s refundable to my account).

NB. The huawei phone cannot be upgraded (android is at an old version but the latest that is supported now after the Huawei public issues) so it is not a “compliant device” for a replacement sim from a major local provider. (Cole’s - another long story.)

Help appreciated as phone needed for location tracking, calls, texts to home.

@GarySmit_765243  First thing may be to check your account to see how much of the add on is left.

Data is 10p per Mb while roaming in Australia  and so your £10 would cover only 100Mb - that's not a lot really. So, even if you did get connected, it would be very expensive and you would need to top up a lot.

As you have an old phone, I'm guessing that a data Esim is not an option.

Advice from @SmartyTrousers  also does make sense.
