I imagine they will be coming soon. In the meantime, iD Mobile offers similar deals to Smarty, also using Three's network, and they already have eSIM.

@SmartyTrousers  I wonder if they will ! It's been 'coming soon' for at least two years to my knowledge!

There's a few reasons why I think eSIM is probably on its way (unlike, for example, Visual Voicemail, which I suspect there are no plans for):

  • ID mobile have it, which proves that it's an option for Three MVNOs
  • More and more devices are coming out which support eSIM
  • It would enable Smarty to save on the cost of having physical SIMs manufactured and posted out
  • If people need a mobile service urgently, providers which don't support eSIM are going to lose out to providers who do

@SmartyTrousers  I totally agree with the points you make here.

I wonder if there is in fact a cost associated with Esim. Otherwise, it's hard to see why nothing has happened for so long.

As usual, I suspect that the bean-counters will have the major say in any steps that are taken.

While I'd like to be wrong, I'm not sure that I share your optimism.
