When authenticating, I'm forced to utilize e-mail or SMS. Both are inconvenient. For instance, the e-mail RFCs mandate that the expected period of time necessary for an e-mail to be delivered is 2 days, because it was designed at a time when physical mail was still normal. SMS is obviously inconvenient due to its reliance upon cellular provider subscription, even for those using SMS over Wi-Fi, and tower availability for those not. Additionally, I have to access the software which interacts with those services to see the code, and then manually duplicate it into the form.
TOTP remediates all of these problems: it operates offline, and can be autofilled by my password manager (Bitwarden) meaning I don't need to switch contexts.
