PAC code query

Hi..in a couple of weeks I'll be out of contract with 3 mobile network...can everyone tell me if I can use the PAC code from 3 mobile to smarty mobile...it's still owned by Hutchinson telecom....I read somewhere that this can't be done if it's the same  owners ?? 🤔
