Hello @ElliotM_2021881 . Firstly, it will depend upon what plan you bought as to how much data you started with.
Secondly, are you sure that you have wifi turned on in your phone settings?
Finally, if your phone was doing some large update, it could have swallowed up all of your data while outside - you would need to consider turning that option off.
