Don’t be seduced by the ‘bargain’. Only buy because is something you really need or want. Even then, if it is of significant value, do a thorough price and authenticity check. Sad to say but there are lots of rogues and fakes operating. I applied this logic before signing my wife and I to Smartey.

  • I was on holiday in Korea and looking to buy some snacks to bring back home. After heading to the checkout, I found out that most of the snacks were all 80% off for foreigners, and close to the expiry date. This was a great end to a holiday.

• What was the best bargain you've bagged this year?
  • I went to book a holiday to Malta last week, but chose to wait a day, and hoping the £19 flight would remain. The next day, I went to book the ticket and the website said "this flight is no longer available at this price", and I was dreading it went up loads. Once I reloaded the page, it was £12!
