I have a couple of questions 1) I have requested my current telephone number to be ported across to smarty but smarty have issued another telephone number to me. Am I right in thinking this number is temporary while my correct number is being ported over and will it automatically change once it has happened? Also I purchased a smarty SIM from a shop so no need for one to be sent. When and how do I activate this SIM. I have put it in my phone ready but how will Smarty know this is my SIM rather than the one they have sent in the post?

@DerekFo_3019507 Smarty issue a random number initially for a new sim and then your number replaces it when ported over.
If they are sending you a sim, then you should wait and use it when it arrives - it will be associated with your account. https://help.smarty.co.uk/en/articles/4227220-activating-my-sim
The one you purchased could be used as a second sim with a separate plan added to a group you form e.g. for a friend or relative. https://help.smarty.co.uk/en/articles/3406401-how-do-i-start-a-group
