Using smarty in new Zealand

Is it possible to us smarty in new Zealand,

without incurring a large bill

The roaming data charge for New Zealand is £0.10/Mb - NZ is in SMARTY's Roaming 1 zone.

When I visited Australia last year, I used a data only eSIM instead of SMARTY roaming mobile data.
