Hi, I have recently changed from Sky Broadband to a Smarty SIM card mobile router. Since I have changed it is not a stable connection and cuts out every few seconds. I have spoken to Sky and tried plugging in via Ethernet cable but it is saying no IP address obtained. Is the issue that the smarty sim is not a static IP and is a dynamic IP address as this will not work if it dynamic. Is there anyway I can change this to static? Also the Latency speed is to high I’m told needs to be under 25 for stable connection to Sky Q and I am getting 33.
can anyone help? Can smarty make any changes to the settings?

You would need to speak to Smarty via webchat for this type of issue.
Sections 5.1 and 5.2 IIRC of the Smarty Terms and Conditions do state that Smarty is not to be used as an ongoing permanent replacement for fixed line broadband, by the way, as it (Smarty) is designed as a no frills mobile phone service.

As @JJP2 mentions, since mobile networks use CGNAT (a type of network translation) it means that a small pool of IP addresses is shared amongst a number of customers. This is also used to conserve the number of IPv4 addresses as that becomes exhausted and is good from a security/privacy perspective - however it can make it difficult to run servers or certain applications .. that is by way of the design of various mobile networks in the UK.
For a fixed IP address it would be better to consider fixed-line/business broadband (AFAIK most domestic fixed-line broadband doesn't offer this as standard).
