Re: What is the P in corner on screen, no service
SaraNew_2559461 That's when you have more than one SIM in your iPhone, it helps to distinguish between them when you make calls, send texts etc. 'P' could stand for Personal, Primary etc. In the settings, you can change this to whatever you want to make it easier for you.6.3KViews4likes1CommentRe: Sim activation
If you're asking how long the activation process is, it usually takes just a few minutes up to 2 hours. You will normally get an email and text message confirming that the SIM has been fully activated - this is when it is ready to use. You could also try restarting your device if this time has passed and you're still not connected - to force your phone to pick up the new signal.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Deal today
If I remember correctly, those deals you usually see from some partners that Smarty works with (Uswitch, MoneySuperMarket etc) are typically for new customers signing up where you get an exclusive deal for more GBs than the standard plans offer .. and this kind of promotion usually lasts for 12 months. If you want to switch over (without taking out another plan) then take a look at the 'Change plan' page and see if there are any upgrade offers - these plans can be switched to at any time. I had the option to switch my 16GB plan to a 32GB plan during the 2023 Black Friday without needing to open new accounts/ add another SIM etc. You can do this via the Smarty app also. Having said that, when you click the promotion link and are redirected to the Smarty website I would advise you to check the T&Cs to see whether it applies to existing customers or only those signing up, just to be sure.2.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Wifi calling
I used to have the original OnePlus Nord and when my Smarty SIM was in there the Wifi-Calling worked as desired - you can also dial *#*#4636#*# which will open your 'Phone Information' screen and from there you can check whether 1) Wifi-calling and 2) VoLTE are provisioned (enabled). If the toggle is off you should be able to switch it on (assuming it is not greyed out).9.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Roaming pausing and texts
If you pause your plan (aka turning auto-renew OFF), it means the service will stop at the end of your billing cycle and you won't receive any calls or texts following that.. keeping auto-renew ON will ensure that your service continues uninterrupted. Good to know: If your plan remains inactive (auto-renew OFF) for 220 days, your account is automatically closed for you.4.5KViews1like4CommentsRe: Static IP address. Connecting to Sky Q box
As JJP2 mentions, since mobile networks use CGNAT (a type of network translation) it means that a small pool of IP addresses is shared amongst a number of customers. This is also used to conserve the number of IPv4 addresses as that becomes exhausted and is good from a security/privacy perspective - however it can make it difficult to run servers or certain applications .. that is by way of the design of various mobile networks in the UK. For a fixed IP address it would be better to consider fixed-line/business broadband (AFAIK most domestic fixed-line broadband doesn't offer this as standard).3.6KViews1like0CommentsRe: 4G speeds atrocious no phone signal either..
JJP2 Yeah its one of those things that even doing a 'test drive' of the host network helped flush out potential issues for me (which there were none) - something that people fail/forget to do and then are disappointed later to find out the experience was not what they were 'hoping for'. I think the end of this year will be a big milestone all the UK networks in general with the 3G switch off being wrapped up and what is next in terms of bettering 4G/5G connectivity (hopefully).24KViews3likes0CommentsRe: Appalling 4G signal strength. Disappointing!
Did you test drive a Three SIM card prior to purchasing a 30-day Smarty plan so that you could evaluate the coverage and performance to see if it met your needs? Sometimes such issues can be down to temporary work on a local mast or congestion at certain times of the day - you can use the Three coverage checker/ network status with your postcode...that might tell you if there are any issues currently. Bear in mind, no network can guarantee 100% coverage since the signal is affected by many different things (buildings, weather, terrain, distance from mast etc) .. or I would recommend starting a webchat to see if Smarty can troubleshoot for you. I don't think that there could be a difference in the signal itself since Three owns Smarty but it is known that a network that is strong in one area, may not be so good in another. That is an inherent problem with mobile networks in general. The good thing is you're not tied to a long contract incase the coverage is not meeting your needs.10KViews2likes0CommentsRe: 6 digit phone numbers
Yes, this is a known restriction - Smarty does not, at present, support sending messages to shortcode numbers. You can ask webchat if they have an updates on when this might be available though I think this is in the works. There is no way around this, and affects all phones (Android and iOS) - see this discussion thread2.6KViews5likes0CommentsRe: Number transfer not happened as planned how to find out what is going on?
You would need to get in touch with the web chat team and they can troubleshoot and advice on why it may be taking longer than expected ..we on the forum don't have access to anyone else's account information. Transfer delays can happen due to many reasons; they can advice better on this. Most likely the transfer is still on-going and sometimes you will experience what's known as a 'split port' - however this should be temporarily whilst Smarty work behind the scenes to get the number correctly transferred over .. according to what I know.4.8KViews2likes1Comment
