My phone hasn’t connected to any network in Australia. My settings are as advised in the travelling abroad advice and I have tried resetting my phone. Any suggestions as to what I can try to get it to connect. It’s an iphone15.

@PaulSim_1818669 There seems to be an issue with Australia not allowing a phone to connect if it does not comply with VoLTE standards.

Thanks for your reply. I have turned the Volte button on and off on my phone but it makes no difference. I have an iPhone 15pro so I would think it would comply with volte standards. It’s been almost a week now and still no network connection.

It's actually quite a bit more complicated than the phone just needing to support VoLTE. In some cases the providers over there are blocking any handset connecting to their network that they didn't sell.

The link points out the chaos, but sadly doesn't offer any solutions.
As I've posted on other threads, I believe this is a Smarty problem, as identical phones, but with other UK sims don't have this problem here!

@ShaneOMZ The solution is to consider a local sim or an Esim.
Roaming is not cheap and so I have looked at Esims for travel outside EU - they seem far more reasonable.
