Youโ€™ve been asking, and weโ€™ve been listening. Weโ€™re excited to let you know that eSIM is now available for existing SMARTY customers๐Ÿ™Œ

Weโ€™re starting things off with a soft launch, so right now youโ€™ll only see the option if youโ€™re an existing customer and you go through the SIM replacement journey. That means if your phone supports eSIM and you want to switch from your physical SIM, youโ€™re good to go.

Wait, whatโ€™s an eSIM?

An eSIM (which stands for embedded SIM) is a small chip thatโ€™s built directly into your phone or device. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, your mobile plan can be downloaded straight onto the eSIM.

Think of it like streaming a song instead of popping in a CD, itโ€™s all digital, and itโ€™s all seamless.

How to make the switch

Just log into your SMARTY account, head to Account settings > Manage plan > Replace SIM, and choose to replace your current SIM with an eSIM. Follow the remaining steps and youโ€™ll be up and running in no time.

Weโ€™re rolling this out carefully to keep things smooth, but more eSIM goodness is on the way ๐Ÿ‘€

Will the e-sim work with other networks worldwide.

There is no replace SIM option for me within the Smarty app dashboard. Account settings and Manage plan are 2 separate buttons and neither contain a replace SIM option. What am I missing?

Thank you. That worked. I wonder why Smarty haven't implemented that feature within the app?

@PsychedelicMonk They have - but it looks different.

Are you sure? I've methodically gone into every setting and it's not there. Is it possible to share a screenshot of where it appears within the app? I know you have already solved my issue by linking me to an external login but really curious why I do not see it in the app.

@PsychedelicMonk  They no longer allow image uploads.

How about this?: Open Smarty app > You (bottom right hand corner)> Manage plan>Replace sim

There is no 'Replace SIM' with Manage Plan. Only options are:

Current plan (shows current plan), Change your plan, Update auto-renew settings and Request PAC or STAC code. App is up to date.

At least you were able to give me an alternative way. Might be something to flag up with Smarty.

@PsychedelicMonk Is it possible that you don't have the most up-to-date version of the app?

Mine is an iOS version - not sure if that makes a difference.

Under the Manage Plan section the first thing is "Your current plan" (where you get option to change plan). Next box down in "Manage me SIM" where its states 'replace your SIM with a physical or eSIM' - then a blue rectangular box with 'Replace SIM'

I do have the latest app version but on Android. Looks like Smarty haven't added that option to Android yet as there is no Manage SIM section. Thanks for your help.

@PsychedelicMonk Maybe we have an explanation then!! โญ

It's very handy to know that the two versions are different - but can't help but wonder why๐Ÿ˜

Excellent! I've just swapped mine over. Seamless and super quick.
Any news on when/if Smartwatches will be supported. Would love to add my Samsung Ultra to my eSIM connection.

@PaulWil_2300509  That's good to know!

Now, now, you're being a bit impatient aren't you!? ๐Ÿ˜ฅ  The wheels of Smarty grind exceedingly slowly - look how long it took to get this far ๐Ÿ’ค

Hi. Iโ€™ve activated eSIM on iPhone 16 but physical sim still showing as primary. Cannot make calls or send texts.  Please help

@DavidSm_1800216 Don't you need to remove the physical sim or at least turn it off in the settings?

I haven't done this with smarty yet, but have used esims alongside the physical sim and normally need to choose which one I want to use.

Yes that is the solution thank you otherwise every time you phone you have to chose the sim

@DavidSm_1800216 Aha!! Glad that worked then!

When I am roaming outside the EU, I use an sim for data and I always need to either turn off the Smarty sim in settings or stop it being the primary and then make the Esim my primary

Double checking. When I travel outside the EU I'm signed up to an e-sim provider. Can I still use that alongside the smarty e-sim? Or is it only one e-sim per phone?

@EdwardBo_312430 On a modern phone, you can store a number of Esims, but you can only have two running at the same time usually. You would choose the primary and secondary.

On an iPhone for example, in Setting>Mobile Service>SIMS you would see those that you have (including a physical one if you have it). They are then toggled on or off. I currently have my Smarty sim toggled on and an Esim toggled off as I do not nee to use it in the UK.
