If you joined using the current 'offer', it's the 16Gb plan but increased to 50Gb for however many months.In the app dashboard, it should say '50Gb - Promotion' and you'll see a bar representing 50Gb, but you're being billed for the 16Gb plan.
This sounds like what would happen if your security settings were blocking, or routinely clearing, cookies.Or if an ad-blocker was interfering with the app or website.
Unlock codes are available from third parties on eBay, for example.One of my 4GEE mobile routers has just failed, sadly. I replaced it with a BT mini hub.
