Re: [Network Issue] Service Update - Resolved
I'm getting a text saying there's new voicemail, but when I call the voicemail number it just says Calling... but doesn't connect. Anything I can do? Have had this account for many years and used voicemail before with no issues. Cell signal strength is 4 out of 5 bars. Bluetooth is disabled and my monthly package successfully renewed yesterday. Did a power reset of the phone so currently in the same cell it started up in. Update 1: Seems the network is down, at least for me. I can't call anyone and no one can call me, but smarty.co.uk/coverage-checker says the coverage in my area is "excellent". I don't even get a ringtone calling out and people on other networks don't get a ringtone calling me. Smarty dashboard says phone plan is active with no issues. The data part of the plan is working with no issues. Update 2: I realised that the community might not have a solution for this one, so contacted Smarty Customer Support. They have a general message: "We're aware of a network issue affecting voice services, and our team is working hard to resolve it as quickly as possible. Data services and 999 calls are unaffected, please bear with us." So, it is a network issue. I'll give it a few days.14KViews2likes1CommentRe: [Network Issue] Service Update - Resolved
This problem just started for me. Samsung S8 worked with Smarty for years. No dialling tone when calling out, and people on other networks get no dialling tone when calling me. Why would it affect people on other networks? Must be a problem with the Smarty network. There's no other explanation. Dashboard says everything is up and running fine and area checker says network is "excellent".18KViews2likes0CommentsRe: How do you block spam texts that give no number.
It's annoying because I made sure not to give my number out this time. Just to my bank and passport office etc. I think scammers just systematically send to all numbers until they detect it was received and then hassle that person endlessly. If it gets too bad I'll have to change my number again. At this rate I'm changing my number about once every 2 years. My grandmother kept the same phone number for nearly 50 years. 🤦😂 Her phone number outlived her, which is the way I wish it still was.5.5KViews1like1CommentRe: How do you block spam texts that give no number.
Thank you. I had a feeling that is the case but wanted to see if anyone had anything worth trying. It's annoying cause I get the texts every day. If they do get too much I'll have to change the number again, but it takes about 3 months for all the organisations that have hooks into my phone number to finally get back to normal operations. So it's a pain in the posterior to change my number.5.5KViews0likes0CommentsHow do you block spam texts that give no number.
I keep getting spam texts every day where the number is just a name. Every one of them has a phishing link designed to steal identity and bank details. The reason why I switched to Smarty was to get away from these. I used 3rd party apps to block spam work for a while and then stop working, and they interfere with the normal operations of the phone, for example by inserting adverts into your contacts and stopping you from making phone calls without first watching an advert. Even if I block all incoming calls that are not in my contacts list, this doesn't block texts. There is no option to block texts that are not in my contacts list.5.5KViews0likes6CommentsNeed to phone passport office
When I try to phone the passport office on 09135 950999 I get a message saying, "Sorry, you have not been given access to that service." I have £10 credit on the account and a package with unlimited calls. I've checked alternative number websites but there is no alternative number for the passport office. The passport office doesn't let you turn up and ask questions without an appointment. The only way to contact them is by phone or mail, but I don't have time for mail. How can I phone this number? Edit: I have also tried 0844 556 9340, but get the message, "Sorry, your call cannot be connected." This number also doesn't have an alternative number.Solved3.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Can't activate SIM.
The SIM has now activated. There was no response from the webpage to indicate that the process had even started, but I received an email saying it's activated. All of this could have been avoided by just having a webpage saying something like: Your request to activate your SIM has been received. This can take up to 2 hours. Unfortunately I never received this confirmation so thought it just wasn't happening.3.8KViews0likes3CommentsCan't activate SIM.
Live in the UK. Got activation email. Clicked Activate SIM. Takes me to login page. Never used SMARTY before so don't have any login details and there is no option to sign up. Checked emails and there is no confirmation of any account ever being created. So, clicked forgot password and instead of sending me a reminder it logged me into my account. So this means anyone can log into my account without needing a password. Great security. Looked for any way to set or change password, there is none. Looked for any way to change account details, there is none. But there was an activate sim button so clicked that. It asks if you want to transfer your number. I said no. If asks if you want to cancel your old contract. I said no. And then nothing. The process just fails. No error. Nothing. Just sits there doing nothing. So, how can I activate my sim given everything what is written above?3.8KViews0likes4Comments
