Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing unusually fast data depletion on my Smarty 100GB plan and wanted to see if others are facing the same issue.
On 25th January 2024, I had 27.21GB remaining, with my plan set to reset on January 5. Despite minimal usage—just basic browsing and searching with a hotspot on two devices—my data was completely used up within a few hours. No videos, downloads, or heavy usage were involved.
Compared to other providers, where even 30GB lasts me over a month, Smarty’s data seems to deplete at an absurd rate. I’ve contacted support for a breakdown and investigation, but I’m curious if anyone else has noticed similar issues.
If you’ve faced this, how did you address it? I’m starting to question the accuracy of their data tracking.

@JamilaF_2872589 Not had the problem. I used data for a long Zoom meeting and that used just 600Mb.

Your phone should be able to give you a breakdown of which apps/services have been using data.
If you're saying you had a couple of devices tethered to your phone and using its data connection, could these have been downloading updates in the background?

I had a random day of over 30Gb randomly disappear on a single day this month despite there being no reason for this. I believe it to be an error but they don’t keep records and the iPhone won’t show a specific days use of data by app annoyingly.

@Smush_1997743 Not sure where you are looking, but if you log into your account dashboard on the website, there is usage history record and it shows data use by the day.
Even if your iPhone shows data use by app, surely you will see 30Gb sticking out like the proverbial sore thumb on an app? Have you considered whether there was an update on the system? Have you uploaded a load of your files to iCloud when on mobile data (you can stop the phone doing that)?

Hi, I know, the app is how I found out about it being on the 23rd December. The phone settings only shows total GB by app for the whole of the time since I’ve had the phone (nearly 2 years ago). Screen time only shows app usage on the day and time but that doesn’t show any difference in average usage than any other month.
No iOS update that I can remember (but I usually update on WiFi anyway and I was at home that day). Backups are only done on WiFi also. I don’t understand how this amount of data can be used in one day, when the most data I’ve used on a single day in the past 6 months or so hasn’t gone higher than 5gb and nothing has been any different 🤷🏻♀️

@Smush_1997743 It's going to be a bit tricky as the dashboard shows what was used from their records. It does perhaps seem strange that this only happened once.
Could your phone perhaps have moved to mobile data rather than wifi without you noticing? I have spotted that occasionally, although not for a long period and hence not much mobile data used.
Did you perhaps lose broadband at home for some while without spotting it and phone moved to mobile data?
I can only suggest (albeit with hindsight) setting a reminder to reset your phone data each time your smarty plan renews.
