Hi,

Could someone explain me how to print a Smarty monthly invoice?  I do need an invoice to send to my Bank in France to update the mobile number. So it's quite urgent and important.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Régine

Unfortunately, it looks like that won't be possible. Here is a link to the explanation in a Support article: https://help.smarty.co.uk/en/articles/1171295-vat-receipts-and-invoices

I should think the best you can manage may be a screen shot of your dashboard account payments page: https://smarty.co.uk/dashboard/payments

Hope this helps.

this response from Smarty is not good.

invoicing is a requirement of law.  there are minimum requirements for the invoice.  The gov provides some guidance here: https://www.gov.uk/invoicing-and-taking-payment-from-customers/invoices-what-they-must-include

further information from above is required on a "vat invoice" between businesses but that does not absolve the obligation to issue invoices complying with the rules above.

whether a plan is for business or for consumers is irrelevant.  A perfectly valid use case is for a consumer to have a plan and to rebill some work related calls to their employer.  The employer will need the evidence and the VAT for their purposes.

but even ignoring this use case, the law still requires smarty to provide invoices.

@jpadie  I'm afraid I disagree here.

Using your reference, a VAT registered trader is obliged to supply a VAT invoice only when dealing with another VAT registered business.

Further reference to: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/record-keeping-for-vat-notice-70021#vat-invoices supports that point. It also specifically states that there is no obligation to issue an invoice to unregistered businesses.

If a customer needs to bill an employer for calls, how could the VAT be apportioned? As calls are unlimited, a) what proportion arises from purchase of data? b) how much VAT applies per minute of each call?
