Nothing works

I've got two sims with Smarty (worst mistake i've made).

1st my sim - used a PAC code to transfer the number. Got confirmation that has gone through, but unable to receive SMS messages or phone calls. It's made it impossible to log on to some critical websites that send SMS messages with codes to log on. I've done everything to try and fix this and got them to raise a ticket with tech support. I'm being told the wait is 5-7 business days. This is beyond unacceptable when i need to receive SMS messages for personal and business use. I can see from others in the forum this is not an uncommon issue yet no one at Smarty see's this as a critical problem. My phone is not on the list of those which are not supported (what provider has only certain phones which can be used?). I've check the Volte setting on my phone and it's enabled, but again, this wasn't made clear when buying the sim at all and why on earth is it a restriction when no other provider has it. This is clearly a split port issue with the number which customer service has no idea about and now i'm screwed because of their incompetence.

2nd sim for my son - mobile data doesn't work so they send me another sim out and it's exactly the same problem.

Chat functionality is less than useless and nothing works.

I've never come across such a poor phone company before

@STEPHEN_3329858 So....what help would you like from forum members then?

Did Support suggest a Network Reset on your phone? This sometimes cures those problems.

VoLTE works on a protocol basis. There may well be some other networks where a particular phone will not work. Impossible for them to cover all possibilities when you buy a sim - and they do offer money back within 14 days if you are not satisfied.

Mentioning business use does not help as this is specifically precluded in the T&C's.

Data works for you but not for your son? Looks like you do have a signal to the house then. Have you tried swapping the sims into the other phone to see what happens?

For many people smarty does seem to provide what they need at a good price point. For others, it will not work and then the good point is that they are not tied into  any long contract.

Cleary it was a rant and trying to get someone from Smarty customer services to escalate something as they won't do that on chat. It doesn't matter how cheap something is, it's not acceptable if it doesn't work.

I've done the reset and that solves nothing. My son's issue is not related to mine. I'm simply explaining that out of the two sims i bought both do not work (again...unacceptable).

I've had mobiles all my life and never experienced issues with porting numbers, data not working or Volte so you really do need to stop trying defend the company when this shouldn't be issues for consumers.

I also cannot get out of this contract until the issue with my number has been resolved. I need to keep my number so moving to another provider will only make matters worse.

@STEPHEN_3329858 It is extremely unlikely that anyone from Smarty will take up your case via this forum. A Moderator may chip in, but I would expect them to signpost you to Support Team.
