So with the SIM I ordered, which works fine btw, came a spare one for me to fit in any spare phone of my choice so as to use that phone with Smarty too. Fitted same spare SIM in just such a phone only to get the 'No SIM...' message in the title.
Is that to be expected with a SIM that hasn't been activated? Or does that particular message suggest that it won't work even after payment+activation?

Hi @GlobaLone - is this the post that you thought had been deleted? I can see that you posted again and have replied there.
The spare sim would need to be activated before you can use it - and not on the same number/account.

Thanks for replying. But I'm trying to work out whether the SIM is broken or not. Would a non-activated SIM be expected to cause the 'No SIM card. Emergency calls only' message?

@GlobaLone I think the non-activated sim may well give that message.
Anyone else have input here?
Could you try the sim in question in another device to check if it is functioning?
