Ooh so many to choose from as we have the most amazing small venue in Kingston run by local store, Banquet records, and see top top acts there from the doves, to the hives and Rick Astley. But my all time favorite gig was the Cult in another tiny venue, la Luna, in Portland Oregon many years ago. Crazy vibe in an intimate venue.

I’ve been to so very many gigs over the years, but none tops seeing Linkin Park at Manchester Arena for the first time. Seeing a band that were the soundtrack to my teenage years play their music that resonates so deeply with me still even today is such a meaningful experience. It meant even more to me post-concert, as the frontman Chester sadly lost his battle with mental health, and I hold onto the memories of that show and the grainy video clips I took at the time so dearly. The band was on top form, playing so tight together with such oomph supporting the ear rasping screams of Chester, it really was a spectacle to behold!

My favourite live gig was Prince during the O2 residency.  Rumours were rife that Prince would wait backstage for arena to empty, then would come come out to do extra sessions.  this was amazing the evening i went nearer to stage and got to see Prince

Elton John and Billy Joel ‘Head to Head’. Billy Joel was ill and could not perform. Sir Elton did his own set then came out for the second half and like the legendary professional he is he did a second set but played Billy Joel’s songs!! Elton John fans had a pleasant surprise and Billy Horl fans had a pleasant surprise following their disappointment. Winners all round!!

The Ian Gillian Band at the Marque in the mid eighties.  An intimate and famous venue with a long history.  Absolutely rammed, hot sweaty and fantastic.   we were about 1ft from the small stage which was surrounded by the most enormous speakers.  Not exactely stripped back but raw and powerful.

Pink Floyd at Earls Court in 1994. A band I grew up listening to whilst going through all the twists and turns of puberty but relating to their songs.  So in 1994 I got to see them live and they didn't disappoint. What an emotional roller-coaster bringing back childhood memories, good and bad. Superb atmosphere, entrancing visuals and a crystal lotus flower opening up from a gigantic disco ball suspended above our heads. Unforgettable!

Lou Lou and Take That who were a couple of rows in front of us also appeared to be enthralled by it all.

I still think about that experience and how it made me feel. ... ALIVE!
