Have a fantastic Summer all.
Download offline maps on your phone before you travel. Google Maps and other apps allow you to save maps for specific areas, so you won’t get lost even without an internet connection.

Read reviews on trip advisor as they provide so much information regarding location/area/places to eat/things to do/public transport etc & book excursions prior to travel as they can be cheaper

Never be afraid to speak to strangers - at the airport, on the plane, share a taxi and even have a meal out with strangers. You'll learn loads, potentially have loads of fun, and if you don't get on with them, you never have to see them again!

Try to go through central search separately . The first gives all the valuables to the second and goes through with the rest of their stuff. You often get stopped or sanded etc and your stuffs come out the X-ray before you get to it when it’s highly vulnerable to theft laptops phones money passport etc. The partner holds back allowing a couple to go before they present the valuables for x ray. In that way even if they are delayed by being searched the first person through is already in a position to scoop them up and secure them before someone else does. It’s the most vulnerable time if the holiday and the search staff don’t seem to recognise how easily the holiday could be ruined before it’s even started.

Book way in advance and use miles built up in the credit card. Don’t fly direct from the UK as the taxes are super high. Take cheap flight to the cheapest place you can get a long haul return. Network to find places to stay for free - house sit, dog sit etc and be flexible!!

If you have a favoured hotel, register and get on their mailing list. A good way to get unbeatable discounts. Book when the price is right but opt for free cancellation until close to the trip. If the price drops substantially, you can book again and cancel the original reservation. Check regularly and use a website like Pruvo to monitor prices and alert you automatically if a better deal becorms available.

Booking flights - I’ll book using a private web browser and check if booking two one way flights is more cost effective than a return flight (which usually happens A LOT and helps me save money)

Pegs! Don't just use them for hanging up your wet bathing costumes. These days we are all conscious of the damage to your skin caused by the sun - use your pegs for pinning a sarong between two parasols to make a big shady area, pegging a sarong along the side of a parasol to stay in the shade when the sun moves round. They come in handy for lots of things. Never forget your pegs!

Pay for any checked in bags online before travelling as usually much cheaper than paying for them at the airport 😉
