Get a Faraday pouch for your car hire keys, so many hire cars are having their contents stolen using the relay method.

Look where the locals shop and eat. They won’t be tourist traps and you should get great food. Also learn a few words of local language  -hello, please, thank you (even ask them how to say it) - I find that just trying to speak their language often helps

Research first. Consider going off peak season to save some money and enjoy not as crowded destinations. Plan the places you want to see and don’t get upset if something doesn’t go as planned. Just enjoy yourself.

My best hack for a summer getaway is to plan and book activities in advance to avoid long queues and ensure availability. Additionally, setting up a reliable SMARTY overseas roaming service and data plan ensures you stay connected without unexpected costs. Lastly, packing a versatile wardrobe with mix-and-match pieces can save space and make it easier to adapt to different weather conditions and occasions.

Travel with a spare small wallet filled with expired credit cards in your oitside pocket,  so if you are mugged or pick pocketed, you lose worthless cards and not your main ones.

If travelling outside of the EU, remember to buy an eSim before you go. Much cheaper than buying a data pass.

YouTube is such an amazing resource if you are traveling somewhere new. Search for local guides not world bloggers. Searches like secret places, local guide, off track etc and you can get amazing tips not just the big tourist traps.

Also, basic rule, if a place is full of local native people and not just tourists, even if it does not look spectacular, give it a go, you'll be pleasantly surprised 9 tines out of 10.
