Any Easter egg is my favourite, but I will always have a soft spot for the Mini Eggs Easter eggs! Back in what must have been the early 2000s my parents decided to get a little me a giant Mini Eggs Easter egg, granted I was much smaller back then but I still swear that thing must have been twice the size of an ostrich egg! It was literally a layer hard candy shelled mini eggs engulfed and cemented together by solid chocolate for the entirety of the whole giant egg. That thing was tough and heavy, so tough infact that my mum and dad and to get a chopping board and give me steak mallet to TRY and smash break the thing open, and try I did, unsuccessfully! But the kitchen was filled with laughs and I got a great moment with my dad who then had to help me break into it, but I think it took him a few swings at it too smash it probably wasn't as easy as he never would have admitted anyway! But I remember the laughs and that moment in the kitchen with my entire family coming together to solve the indestructible Easter egg conundrum, I also remember the laughs roaring up again when everyone took a piece and tried to bite into it and we were once again reminded how indestructible it was as everyone struggled to bite through those thick chocolate chunks. Good times.

Home-made solid chocolate egg by pouring quality molten chocolate of choice into half-egg jelly molds. The eggs you buy just became smaller, thinner and overpriced. Decorating the home-made eggs is also fun. Making our own solid eggs has become a bit of a tradition now, over 15 years now and counting.

Favourite egg you say? Let me have a ponder. Take my mind back to better times, some years back yonder. A small tike of five years with a sprinkle of missing teeth, Top Of The Pops was on telly back then, along with Orville and Keith. The good old days we call them, well my generation at least, where everything seemed better and an Easter Egg resembled a feast. Where everything was bigger, was cheaper and more fair, back when it was fashionable to sport blue eyeshadow and sport crimped hair. Oh yes, those days were special, and the egg that remains my fave, is the biggest ones my parents could find - for which they had worked scrimped and saved! โค๏ธThese days however, now I have to buy my own - I think it's far better value, to eat a Toblerone!

I'm an absolute sucker for a bag of mini eggs if that counts.
However, my favourite Easter Egg is made of pink and yellow felt, glued together with some fuzzy yellow feathers, and has the words "Hoppy Easter" scribbled on the back in Sharpie. My little sister made it for me when we were kids and I've kept it in a keepsake box for the last 20 years.
