Using smarty unlimited card in a Netgear mifi abroad

I have a smarty unlimited data SIM card in my Netgear M1 router. It tells me that I need to turn on international roaming. I am currently in France. Please can somebody advise (in really simple terms) what I need to do. Is it a case that I need to put the card into my phone to do the changes? I am a real techno dinosaur and was sold this on the grounds that it was good to go.

You need to change the APN in your device to “mob.asm.net” - consult your manual how to do this. 

Despite having unlimited data here in the UK, in the EU, you have a roaming allowance of 12 GB of data. and will need to buy a data add on if you want to use more than 12 GB
