Transfer from giffgaff eSIM

I've ported over from GiffGaff - just had the message to say my port was successful.

My iMessage and phone number don't seem to have changed yet. But I was wondering whether that's related to the eSIM that I have from GG?

Do I delete it? It says if I do that then my old number will no longer be associated with my iPhone. Not sure if that's ok (I think it probably is!)

It's sorted now. The issue was that when I put in the physical sim from Smarty, the phone recognised it as being a second sim so assigned it as a business sim. Once that's done, THERE IS NO WAY BACK, and Smarty probably out to be alerting people to this.

I needed to have deleted the eSIM first and the installed the Smarty Sim.

I've had to factory reset and recover from a back up and then repeat the steps.

@MikeHib_3002982 Check your account dashboard first to see that your port has fully happened. If it has, I would expect that the eSIM from Goddard will no longer work - you can try it before deleting it.

The port has definitely happened now. When I put in the new smarty sim it sets it as a "business" sim rather than the "primary". I think that's causing the issues.

When I go into it, there's no way to reassign it, and update My number etc?!

@MikeHib_3002982 Normally, you can assign which sim is the primary (on an iPhone). You would therefore set the smarty sim as Primary for data and for calls.

@MikeHib_3002982 I also suspect (others may be able to shed more light on this...) that if you get rid of the Esim, then the phone will only have the physical Smarty sim to use.

Did you try the Esim to see if it is still working?

@MikeHib_3002982  Was there no possibility of making the physical sim the primary one? I say this because when I used an Esim while travelling, I needed to nominate either the physical sim or the Esim as the primary for data and also for calls. Upon return to UK, I deleted the Esim and there was no issue.

No, there was no option that I could find. I googled and Reddit suggested that it was a "feature" of adding a physical after an Esim and that a reset would sort it.
