Smarty data only sim in a 4g router

I have bought an unlocked EE 4g router from Amazon, and was hoping to use a Smarty unlimited data only sim with it. I have activated the sim,and put it in the router, but I’m not getting a connection-(flashing white/ aqua light on the router).
Please can you tell me if there something I need to do to get the set up to work?

My recommendation you be to try your SMARTY SIM in a handset, this way you can check that this SIM is active and connecting to the network.
