You get up to 12Gb of EU Roaming Data, but if your original plan has less data, then you would need the add on to use more than you had in that original plan.
HOWEVER, currently, the minimum plan has been upgraded to 12Gb data for ยฃ6 per month and so you could ask to be put onto that plan when you renew (web chat with Support Team) and the problem hopefully goes away unless you suddenly need a lot of data....simples!!!
