Smarty sim not working in Australia
Very disappointed that my Smarty Sim is not working in Australia. Didn’t realise, before travelling, it would be a problem and surprised when I got to Australia that I could only get an SOS mobile connection. My wife’s phone working fine on giffgaff and connecting to a local network. Then read all the related posts about problems people have had with Smarty in Australia. I have bought an Optus esim for data and calls/text (local and international) but still no way to access my calls to/from my usual uk number. If I had known in advance I would have forwarded calls to my uk number onto my wife’s phone before travelling but too late now. Hope Smarty sorts this out soon or I am off to another network.16Views0likes0CommentsData roaming in EU complaint

Yesterday I had used 1.8 gb of data .. the today driving across spain i had a problem connecting so i selected a different network from the lost becayse the signal was so poor. This eveing just after 21:00 you messaged to say that suddenly i have used more than 10gb of data .. for the past hour ive had no signal and yet now you claim i’ve gone over 12gb of data .. How is that possible?????? I feel completely mugged! This smarty 12gb in europe is obviously a scAm am d I sm going to complain to the regulator about your ‘fast practices’ and warm others not to switch to you. This is appauling service!Solved2.7KViews1like4CommentsRoaming in Poland - data works, but no calling
Hi, my wife went to Poland, and the service works very strangely there. She's got internet access without issues, but she can't call anyone (neither PL nor UK numbers). She can receive calls though, so that's not network configuration issue. She was able to call a Polish number once today, but not any more. From what I understood, when travelling to an EU country we should be able to call both UK numbers and numbers local to that country. What is going on?Solved51Views0likes2CommentsEU Roaming on an iPhone
Hi Everyone trying to roam with an Apple iPhone I am in Italy on my first overseas trip with Smarty and what a disaster ! I carried out all the instructions from Smarty on how to roam, changed settings, reset my phone, removed the SIM and still could only get intermittent 3G at best in both Bologna and Florence, both big cities with great coverage on all the networks. After a lot of exchanges of emails when I had WiFi my complaint was escalated, and I was then told that this is a KNOWN ISSUE for Apple users on the Smarty network. When roaming you are not able to connect to 4G so at best you will only ever get 3G, and potentially 5G if you can connect to another network manually but this as I have found is intermittent at best. According to SMARTY there will be no fix until end September. Other people in my party are with other providers and had full connectivity (with iPhones) on various networks from stepping off the plane. If you need data when roaming think about another network until this is fixed. From what I can see it is a Smarty only issue which they are conveniently not telling customers about until the complaint is escalated. Smarty seems to be trying to push the blame to Apple saying they are waiting for them to sort out a fix with an over the air update at the end of this month, but Apple phones are hardly new, so come on Smarty sort this out with your partner networks and don’t ruin your reputation.251Views2likes1CommentNo roaming data in Portugal
I’ve been on holiday in Portugal for a few days and initially my data was working fine but this morning it stopped working. My roaming is on and the APN is set correctly. I’ve tried resetting and restarting my phone and nothing is working. Any ideas on how to fix? It’s really disrupting my trip as I can’t get bolts or look up directions while I’m out.53Views0likes0CommentsI'm planning on visiting Poland for a few days then returning to the UK

Since arriving in Australia, I've been unable to use my Smarty UK SIM (just required for 2-step banking authentication etc as I have a local SIM for calls, texts and data). The SIM is recognised by my phone and multiple local phone signals are identified but for some reason I can't connect to any of them. The APN is now set to mob.asm.net but the change was made post-arrival in Australia - could this be the source of the problem? I've tried toggling all of the various settings on and off but without success. My local Aussie SIM works fine in my Poco F3 but it stops working when my Smarty UK SIM is added to slot 2 - my Smarty SIM is therefore currently residing in my old Motorola g(8). I was last in Australia in April 2024 and my Smarty SIM was connecting without any issues at that time. In the meantime, the 3G network has been turned off in Australia. I mention this in case it is significant but as the settings on my 2x phones allow me to select 5G (Poco F3) and 4G/LTE (Motorola g(8)), I assume this is not the root cause of the problem. I don't know if it's relevant but I should also note that I was unable to connect to either WiFi or mobile data while on the train to the UK airport. Ideally, a solution to this problem can be found but, if not, what are my options? 1. Smarty could send a replacement SIM to my UK address for a relative to post to Australia (it probably wouldn't arrive until after Christmas) 2. Is it possible sms messages to be forwarded to another number (similar to call forwarding for voice calls)? 3. I could do nothing (not a great option as I'm staying in Australia until after Easter 2025) 4. Are there any other options? All suggestions welcome. Compare Smarty to ID on here: https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/ Smarty is honestly terrible. ID offers so much more on the same network for the same price. They offer more data per £, data rollover, more EU countries access, 30GB EU Roaming (18 more than Smarty), e-sim for Watches, 3 months of Apple TV + Music. It is a no-brainer to switch now, Smarty has lost it's game sadly.804Views0likes2Comments
