Avtex router and SMARTY data only SIM
I have recently acquired a motorhome with an Avtex 994 router. I bought a Smarty SIM to try and see if the Avtex router was any better that just using my mobile phone.
In the UK, the setup works fine. Devices connect, Wifi is available in and around the motorhome. The network it connects to is '3' which isn't the fastest on the block (probably throttle connections from providers like SMARTY), but I thought I'd give it a try.
However, in the EU (I'm in France), there is no Internet connection. Devices can connect ok to the Wifi router and Avtex status shows under the Modem Status that the SIM has 'registered' and is 'roaming'. With SFR, one of the French mobile networks. There is no 'Active Link'.
I've scoured the Avtex manual and online, but can't find any clear solutions to this.

I went back and checked and I had somehow mistyped the APN - when I corrected it, the connection came to life!
So, for this particular model of Avtex Wifi router, the following needs to be done:From the admin account go to: Interface > Link Manager > Link Settings, set Automatic APN Selection to OFF using the slider, then set the APN for both WWAN1 and WWAN2 to mob.asm.net. (To do this, press the pencil icon on the right of each of WWAN1 and 2 in turn). Then press Submit (at the bottom), and when the dialog box closes, hit Save & Apply (at the top).

Under Interface > Link Manager > Link Settings, I have set the APN for both WWAN1 and WWAN2 to mob.asm.net. And saved and rebooted.
Under Status > Modem Status it says 'Registered, roaming' against Registration.
But under Interface > Link Manager > Status both Link Status settings (WWAN1 and 2) say Disconnected.

NeilWal_3767016 Have you tried different mobile networks that are available in the area?

I haven't, no. I'm not sure I know how to do that.
I thought the SIM + router would negotiate the network it needs to roam.

NeilWal_3767016 In the router Settings, did you check that the APN is set to mob.asm.net ?
