I only get a couple of bars - even though it's supposed to be good coverage - and most times I'm on a call for a while it will disconnect - not poor sound quality but the call drops and has to be re-dialled. I'd assumed the phone would always use WIFI Calling when indoors but maybe not reading this - switching to Airplane mode has been mentioned over the years to force WiFi calling - certainly better than suggestions to restart the phone or router. It's worth noting that with Android - on a Pixel at least - it remembers if you enable WIFI or BT in Airplane mode for next time - so it's one less thing to change each time - just leaves remembering to turn off Airplane mode afterwards.27Views0likes0CommentsDelayed SMS issue re-appeared
An issue seen a couple of years ago has re-appeared - SMS such as messages from websites not received promptly. This is on Pixel and it's hard to tell whether it's a phone or network issue as sending a text makes the missing messages appear. The activation code like the QRcode are one time things It may be that iPhones support an eSIM transfer process but the default will be to request a new eSIM I know from experience that can go wrong - and even on chat it took some effort to get to an activation code at the end of a long chat session Moving a SIM to a new phone is easy with physical - I'm not looking forward to having to go through that again for a new phone eSIM is likely going to be a more frequent topic now so its worth researching it.1.5KViews0likes1CommenteSIM swap - a warning
I was nervous about eSIM swap in case it went wrong - and it did - so I would think twice until its all ironed out After requesting swap via the website there was no email with QR code, no loss of service on the old SIM, and a confirmation code appeared only briefly before disappearing - but no error message. On chat, the agent requested another eSIM swap, this time a QR code arrived and phone service was lost, but no confirmation code appeared on the dashboard. There was confusion between the short confirmation code expected on the dashboard and the long code in the email to use instead of scanning a QR code. Eventually the agent provided the short confirmation code needed to activate the eSIM after scanning the QR code The chat session lasted over one hour Then there are extra steps to make sure the phone is using the eSIM and not the de-activated physical SIM All in all a very disappointing experience345Views2likes1CommentRe: Wifi calling - text issue.
Another occurrence of website generated text messages not arriving. This is with WIFI Calling off so likely it's a different issue - but other posts are wrong to suggest WIFI Calling issues aren't Smarty related - they're involved in handling SMS just as when they arrives via mobile. The SMS arrive and the problem goes away after a phone reboot - so maybe it re-registering with the network fixes the issue - but the timing of the problem - starting in recent weeks - means it could be some recent Pixel update that's causing the issue.15KViews1like0CommentsRe: Wifi calling - text issue.
Despite some of the replies this is a real issue. I'm now seeing an up to hour delay receiving SMS and when these are needed as part of logging in they need to arrive straight away. Disabling WiFi immediately received the SMS - I'm now trying disabling WIFI Calling and reboot. Its not device specific - Pixel here. The issue seems to go away after the reboot - whether Wifi calling is on or off . Because it started working again Online chat just see it as a "glitch" so no real fix.15KViews1like4Comments
