SIM card in router limits
As a family, we currently have 3 Smarty sims in mobile phones, and are very happy with the service and reliability. I am considering changing our broadband usage to a sim router, and a SMARTY sim seems an obvious choice, but I have concerns over the 8 device tethering warning stated in paras 5.15 and 5.16 of the T&C's. We are not massive data users, and the current 200 Gb/ month offer should be more than enough, but have up to 12 devices that could link to wifi, including our phones, Echo devices and smart TV. Is this likely to trigger a suspension/ termination?

DavidWB I think that the T&C's 5.15 refers to using the Unlimited plan rather than your 200Gb plan. Surely, if you tether a lot of devices all using data, then your 200Gb will go that much faster; it is hard to see that as unreasonable use.
If you are thinking of moving to the Unlimited plan, then you may run into problems if your data usage becomes heavy. 5.15 as you say warns that you should only use up to 8 devices and also specifically states that you should not rely on the service as a broadband replacement.

why can't you do this as a broadband replacement? I had same idea. I don't have home broadband and had just got a £9 data only SMATY sim to use as extra data (to regular sim) to download games?
I have no landline phone line as am deaf and only use SMS, email etc to communicate too.- MSFSMARTY Guru03-05-2026
PhoenixRising It isn't that you can't use it to replace broadband.
The problem arises if you use what is considered to be an unreasonable amount of data by connecting vast numbers of devices (No, there is no exact definition but the suggested limit is 8 devices)
The other thing is that mobile data is not guaranteed like a broadband connection and that's a problem for some people.
