Call forwarding

New to Smarty and soon to leave if I can’t get this problem fixed.

Call forwarding-does not work. Started with codes, getting error codes. Tried resetting phone as instructed by customer service. Tried various handsets. 72 hour communication thread disappeared and now I am back to advisor suggestions on how to fix my voicemail 🤦‍♀️ or being referred straight back to codes.

I’ve pointed out that I’m not the only one having this problem-see community chat-and that gets ignored.

As the sole purpose of this number is to divert, for work reasons, there’s no point in continuing with the service.

Any solutions please before I go elsewhere?

Nobbygonzo I suspect this may be related to the 3G switch off. In my experience, using *# codes to control things like call forwarding (and I suspect that’s what’s actually happening in the background if you toggle on call forwarding in the menus of your phone) requires the phone to momentarily drop down to 3G or 2G to make the request. Unfortunately, most of Smarty’s 3G has now been switched off, and unlike non-Three-based networks, there’s no 2G either.

From what I’ve read, it is possible for a network to support *# codes over 4G, but I don’t think it’s as straight forward as it was for them to support it on 3G or 2G.

I’m not currently using Smarty myself so not in a position to test this, but it sounds like a bit of an oversight if no provision has been made to allow customers to control call forwarding after the 3G switch off.

Thank you! That’s really useful to know-as I can’t get any useful response from Smarty themselves. Thanks for taking the time to reply 😊

It's been a while, but in case this helps someone else stumbling over this thread - like I did. The call forward codes are universal and used by many mobile networks. The codes on Smarty's help page are wrong - they are missing a * before and after the command code. The correct full codes are:

    *67*[dest]#
    *61*[dest]#
    *62*[dest]#

I tried them on my Smarty sim and they work. It boggles the mind that nobody at Smarty noticed the error and fixed it so far

I haven't yet - no. There doesn't seem to be a way to do it on the FAQ/help page. Is there somewhere else where this can be done?
