Number porting didn't quite work - seeing old number sometimes
Hi, I ported my number to SMARTY back in December. I only just noticed that SMS's sent to Samsung phones will show the number that my new SIM originally had rather than the number that I ported to the SIM. It works fine for other phones - an iPhone and an oldish Motorola. They show the correct number. And phone calls always show the right number. It's just SMS and just with Samsung phones (so far - I've found it happens on 3 different ones). So somewhere, my phone still has the old number. I've checked the phone settings (Pixel 6 Pro) but it just says "Unknown" when I check the SIM number or the phone number. I don't know where the old number has been stashed. Any ideas? Thanks.Solved11KViews1like6CommentsRe: Auto Wi-Fi log in London Underground?
Hi, Are you saying that the WiFi works but it's just the pain of filling in the registration thing each time? I use a great app that does that for you. Once you log into one of those free WiFi places where you have to put your e-mail address etc in, it remembers all that and just does it in the background for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidyou.wifiloginnew I think it was a few pounds but well worth it - especially as the WiFi at work needs a form filling in each time! A few people mention the 3 contract but that can't override UK law about remote purchases. I guess you must know about that as you mention the cooling off period. Just making sure you realise it's a law rather than some company policy. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/changed-your-mind/changing-your-mind-about-something-youve-bought/ "You automatically get a 14-day ‘cooling-off period’ when you buy something you haven’t seen in person - unless it’s bespoke or made to measure." Good luck. Peter14KViews1like0CommentsRe: Number porting didn't quite work - seeing old number sometimes
This problem mysteriously came back! This time, the steps above didn't work. This time I had to reset the messenger app chat features so that it made me reregister the number. https://community.idmobile.co.uk/device-phone-support-26/messages-wrong-and-right-numbers-5005711KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Number porting didn't quite work - seeing old number sometimes
Contacted support on the web chat and they said to do this - Reset your network settings. Open your phone's Settings app. Tap System Advanced. Reset options. Tap Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. That did the trick. There was some other stuff about setting things in the messenger app and turning off WiFi which I somehow missed and just did that last bit above. It does mean I have to get all the WiFi passwords again and re-pair my bluetooth devices though! Ah well - sorted out11KViews0likes1CommentRe: Number porting didn't quite work - seeing old number sometimes
I've never been able to do that with android phones. In the olden days when I first switched over, I would put the SIM in an old dumb phone and I could do it there. Just got my old dumb phone charging up now! Wish I could remember where I put the SIM adapters so that I can put the micro SIM in the old big slot!11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Transferring numbers
I've switched to Smarty twice. The first time, it took a few days and then I had a problem because I left my old sim in a spare phone so it confused the system. Second time it got done in a day with no issue. So you've been unlucky unless you left your old sim in another phone?7KViews0likes0CommentsCan't believe how fast the SMARTY/3 network is!
I just switched back to Smarty now that I have a phone that works with 5G on the network. I was with EE and then Lebara for a bit. Smarty wipes the floor with them for 5G speed where I live. It's about 10 times faster then Lebara was on the day I did the test. Both networks had a 5G connection. In fact, even using Smarty with a 4G connection, it was 3 times faster than Lebara's 5G connection! I get about 500mps on the Smarty network at home - great.4.4KViews2likes3Comments
