We bought a 15GB plan 4 days ago to evaluate the suitability and coverge at our home. On the first day ( a Sunday evening) it registered 2.24GB. Monday 266MB on my mobile. Tuesday 1.81 GB solely on my wife's ( she was out at work during the day). Wednesday 1.88 GB just on a ZTE ( 3 ) 5 G router - no devices attached. On Thursday I turned it off all day - thankfully no data usage recorded. Now we are very familiar with the amount of data we use on mobile , Im on O2 and sometimes work on my computer tethered to the mobile. My Wife is on Talk Talk and we get never see's that high rate of consumption of data. You are left with the feeling that you have to buy the unlimited plan so that it's not an issue. We don't stream, watch movies, game etc. Either the ZTE router is gobbling up data just by being on there is something amiss with how this data usage is being measured.

yes, the Oklala speed test at https://www.speedtest.net/

@UKTechVA Thatโll probably be it then. A speed test works by seeing how much data it can download in a set period of time. The faster the connection, the more data itโs going to use each time you run a speed test. You can easily use hundreds of MB with just one speed test if your connection is fast.
If youโre wondering why you never saw data usage like that on O2, itโs because O2 has the slowest overall data speeds of any UK network, and would generally struggle to outpace a mobility scooter.

@UKTechVA Have you been running any speed tests?
