Slow data connection
I am with Smarty for as long as I can remember, was generally ok with the data speeds I was getting, but just over an year ago I was given a work phone which is on EE network, and during this period for a like for like usage I came to realise that Smarty data speeds are just rubbish. I am on the iPhone 17 pro vs work phone which is a iPhone 15.
There have been times when I have to use work hotspot to get reliable data when I really needed it.
On Monday night, I was out and about, in Central London in what was a very centrally located restaurant and I could not even get a simple web page loaded.
I am going to lodge a complaint but is Smarty network just pants? I know it is cheaper than some providers but it should work in all central areas of the city.
Do you notice this too? Is Smarty doing anything to address this?

I’ve been with Smarty for well over a year now, and I’ve always been happy with the service as I work away a lot so can start and stop my data plan as needed.
But since renewing the plan on the 12th of this month the service in my area has been unusable and I’m now using my phone data which is with Tesco.
I’ve contacted smarty several times and even the signal checker is saying there is a problem in my area, and now on the 26th December it’s still the same.
And all the promises of someone contacting me back have been not upheld, all they have done is credit my account with £3.73, I certainly won’t be renewing my data plan in January and will be moving to another provider, my partner will also be moving her 4 sim contracts away from Smarty also.
So that’s 5 contracts Smarty will have lost not that it seems to bother them one little bit, not very good customer service at all.

How did you get in touch with Smarty, the web chat seem to be a loop to no where. I had same issue again yesterday, in another part of London.
In any case, finding a better network is inevitable with the kind of coverage I am getting.

Via the web chat and left a complaint via the contact details on the app.
Data service has been absolutely useless since the 12th December and still the same today 7/1/26 and still no reply from anyone from Smarty.
wont be renewing on the 12th of January useless company, there were good but gone downhill in 2025

I am also having these issues and only recently moved to smarty and starting to regret my decision.
