Activating second SIM
I started using SMARTY a few months ago, and (without me asking) SMARTY sent me a SIM in the post to pass on to a friend, which I decided to use myself. I've just had enormous trouble jumping through hoops to activate it and start a group.
When I went to smarty.co.uk/activate, it said "Already have an account with SMARTY?
Log in to activate", so I logged in again. Apparently the only way to activate a SIM is to go to /activate, which takes me back round the loop of logging in again.
I came to the conclusion that the only way of activating the SIM was to create a new account. So I tried to create it using my existing email address, but that didn't work, so I created a new email account so I could create a new SMARTY account.
I was then able to start a group by sending an invitation to myself on my new account and accepting my invitation.
My question is: Is the process really so complicated and convoluted? Was I missing something?

GraemeH_1395481 It would seem they expect the bonus SIM they send to be shared with a friend, and not for adding it to yourself. The smarty.co.uk/activate page is meant for new users who got this bonus SIM or got it from a store, and it makes you create a new account. The page seems to redirect to the login page if you are logged in. It doesn't do this if I go incognito.
Creating a new account and then inviting yourself works, but it is usually meant for inviting other people already with SMARTY, and it also has its own personal details because group members are treated like separate people. The correct way to get a second SIM under the same Email is a group nickname SIM, though they will send you a new SIM, and you cannot use the bonus SIM they already sent. The difference between group members and nickname SIMs is here: What can Group owners and members see or do? | SMARTY Help Centre.
