Poor network coverage (network status) - new joiner
Hi - I've recently joined Smarty with multiple devices (for myself and family members). I live in the centre of a large city and have always had good phone reception from other providers (PlusNet, GiffGaff, Lebara). However, since joining Smarty I'm suffering from very low levels of connectivity and the phone is constantly connecting to Wifi Call. I've done the usual checks (clean/reinsert SIM, try another device, airplane mode etc) and it persists. I can see from searching on here this is an issue affecting other users, and the network status page provides a rather unhelpful generic message about work taking place but without any timescales. Chatting to Smarty support didn't help today. Does anything knowledgable about Smarty on here perhaps have any other suggestions I could look at before I consider ditching Smarty and moving to another provider? I like the ethos and the initial customer engagement was great, but ultimately I need a phone service that works. (iPhone XS Max running IOS17) Thanks.14KViews4likes20CommentsWifi calling
I have a OnePlus Nord 2t (dual sim). With my Three SIM I can use wi-fi calling. I expected to be able to do the same with my new Smarty SIM, however, it does not work. If I switch on Airplane mode and switch wi-fi back on the Three SIM can make calls, the Smarty SIM cannot. I've tried swapping the Sims over to different slots. Am I missing something? Any ideas welcome. Thanks for looking.11KViews1like10CommentsWifi Preferred Option
Hi! I have a new Fold 4 and noticed a behaviour around wifi calling. I have enabled wifi calling in the menu - when the mobile signal drops to no bars the wifi calling icon appears. When the signal moves to 1 or 2 bars then it turns off. This is an issue since my mobile signal is borderline so want wifi calling by default. On my old Note 9 you could set the calling preference but this option is not available on the new phone (Android 13). I've done some googling and getting mixed messages around this whether it is an android setting and/or a setting that is available for only certain network providers. Does anyone on Smarty with earlier android version have the wifi preferred option? Thanks in advance, Richard PS There is the "flight mode" option as a work around which works and I've set up a routine to turn this on and off depending if I'm home or not so this will hopefully work as a fallback! Thanks in advance for any help!8.9KViews0likes16CommentsiPhone 14 support 5G and Wi-Fi calling
SMARTY does not currently support 5G and Wi-Fi calling on the latest iPhone 14 range. It therefore would be a BIG step-down in terms features for many customer’s that are planning to upgrade their mobile phone or receiving new phones as Christmas presents. Unlike the USA model, the iPhone 14 range of phones in the UK does still have a SIM Tray, so SMARTY not supporting an eSIM would not be a deal breaker here? On speaking to Customer Service at SMARTY I have been advised that you are waiting for Apple in order to move this forward, yet the Apple website shows that the 3 network infrastructure does already support both of these features already? EDIT 8/12/2022 SMARTY has a slogan of simple, honest mobile. However, this question hasn’t been answered by anyone at SMARTY, and further questions other topics have been posted afterwards, which have been answered? I’d like to upgrade my phone, but so far I’m getting the generic response of “we are adding new phones all the time”, but no actual indication whether this phone will be indeed be added, despite the fact it is already has 5G and Wi-Fi calling on 3? If it’s a case that 3 won’t let you do this, then why not be honest? Not answering the question or giving a response that is non committing is not really demonstrating this? Other MVNOs with other network providers do have iPhone 14 compatibility. New phones from other manufacturers are supported by SMARTYSolved8.5KViews2likes7CommentsWIFI calling not available on Honor 70 5G despite it showing on the list of compatible phones.
WIFI calling not available on Honor 70 5G despite it showing on the list of compatible phones. Webchat just now with customer service says "back end team" are working on it but not estimated time for any update. New phone bought because of stated compatibility by SMARTY and it doesn't work. I have zero signal in my house hence needing WIFI calling. Hurry Up SMARTY and sort it out please!Solved7.7KViews0likes4CommentsWi Fi Calling no longer works as of 5th June 2025
Hi gang, my wifi calling stopped working in our home. Since approx 5th of June 2025. (I been using wifi calling past 5 months from home with Smarty no issues) I have chatted with Smarty team, the experience was ok actually worked for me. They replied with "To summarise, we’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps and updated the APN settings. Unfortunately, this hasn’t resolved the issue. Therefore, I’ve raised a case on your behalf for further investigation." I then called a friend who has no reception in their home, has a Smarty sim, he tried WiFi calling. Guess what he said it's not working it did before. Is there a theme here ? The only change recently is this 31st May Three UK recently merged with Vodafone UK, forming a new company called VodafoneThree. This merger was completed on May 31, 2025, according to Vodafone. The combined company is now the largest mobile phone operator in the UK, with 27 million customersSolved6.4KViews1like26CommentsSamsung A34 5G wifi calling
Just joined Smarty with my Samsung A34 5G dual sim. Wifi calling works with both sims simultaneously and 5G on both simultaneously, one is on EE and the other is Smarty. There does seem to be an issue with Smarty going onto wifi calling, it seems to prefer to use the cellular network if the signal is good. You can force this by going onto airplane mode and manually switching on wifi while airplane mode is still on, and wifi calling comes on instantly. Not the best, will see how it goes when my number is ported over and have a chance to use it properly. Just got to switch off my voicemail now.6.4KViews0likes11CommentsHow come the Honor Magic4 Lite 5G doesn't support 4G Calling on SMARTY?
Hi So this device has the capabilites as I have tested this with an EE sim, and VoLTE comes up but on SMARTY it doesn't? The list doesn't even display its compatible, but shows the 4G version is? What's that about? I paid a bit for a device for it to be nothing but useless after 2024's 3G shutdown. It also doesn't support WiFi Calling whilst the 4G version does... That baffles me, can anyone explain that to me? Thanks! 😊5.9KViews0likes6Comments
