phone shows 5g but no internet connection

Question

I have a Samsung S20 plus 5G which generally works fine except if I enter an area with 5g coverage. I then get a strong 5g signal but find there is no internet connection. If I stop my phone using 5g (I.e. set to LTE/3G/2G auto connect) or in a non-5g area (set to 5G/LTE/3G/2G auto connect) then everything is fine.

I've reset, updated, checked APN settings etc. This phone is on the approved list by Smarty so it should work.

How do I get internet on this phone in a 5g area?
