Unlimited data plan isn't working - suggestions?

I have a new android phone and bought the Smarty unlimited data sim to use with it. 

Despite following the tutorial here and Google search, when I turn off my wifi, the data still doesn't register/work. Use of mobile data is enabled on my phone, and the access point is the same as the tutorial. 

I'm in the UK, apparently should have Smarty network where I am, and am just wondering why it isn't working.  any ideas?
