Sim One and Two

Hi I was provided with a temporary number until my number was transferred , whilst trying to set up data roaming only the first number supplied is active to action this on.  Is this usual or should my sim be active on my number .  If this information is of any help it is showing that sim 1 with temporary number is the default sim.
