Showing a wrong number to the people I call

Seems like you messed up porting my number once again. First you didn't even initiate it and I only realised days later. Then I had to battle through your bots to eventually get to message with a person who apparently then initiated porting the number. That seems to have worked - to an extent.

Now I can receive calls to my ported number but all outgoing calls and messages are from the smarty number that was supposed to be temporary until porting is complete. My iPhone also shows Smarty SIM only with the temporary number and doesn't allow me to change that.

Judging by all the other errors reported in this "community", you have a lot of kinks in even the simplest processes like porting. But then not having customer service or support to speak of really doesn't help. The chatbot is useless for anything but simplest issues, let's be honest.

There is a (somewhat destructive) solution in this thread:

Old number showing | SMARTY Community

Network reset will wipe all your network settings though - you'll lose saved / known wifi networks and vpns for example.

If a network reset has solved the problem then the issue was with your phone. A network reset only resets settings on your phone and does nothing on the network side. The vast majority of these "wrong number after port" (which affects all networks) are down to the user's phone remembering the old temporary number and requiring a reset.

    1. When you write "you", this is the Community Forum and not smarty directly, therefore WE haven't done anything wrong for you.
    2. Firstly check your Account Dashboard to see what number is registered to you now. If it is correct, then the most likely cause is that your phone has 'remembered' the number on the sim originally and you need a Network Reset to put it right.
    3. If that doesn't still work, then you can either contact Smarty Support to ask them to investigate for you or raise a Complaint.
    4. Many of the 'kinks in the system' are down to user error - you cannot blame Smarty for everything.

I had an apology from smarty already for messing up transfer of my number, but somehow you think it's user error? There was nothing about a "network reset" in any instructions, nor did smarty agent suggest anything of the sort.

You can pretend there's a "community" here, I won't. It's a lot of unhappy customers with problems and one or two smarty "community managers" that instead of helping, tell people off about semantics.

Ivan_3869879 You rather threw us off the sent by suggesting that the failed port had been sorted now.

I stand by my suggestion that the phone has 'remembered' the first allocated number.

For some iPhone users, turning off iMessage and FaceTime before restarting may work - but then people retort by saying that they run Android.

I am definitely NOT a manager of any sort and do not work for smarty nor receive any recompense for trying to help some people. There may be some unhappy customers, but given that there are over a million now then it certainly isn't the majority.

I am also NOT telling you off about semantics. We are not staff here - there, I repeated myself!
