Samsung A34 5G wifi calling
THANK YOU Sinkers
That matches my problem precisely, in my nearly NOT-Spot home location.
This thread is for a Samsung A34; I have an A54 and the behaviour differs a little.
On A54 quick panel, WiFi does NOT toggle off when Flight mode is turned ON.
Mobile Data isn't a switch on A54 (now Android 14); it is an indicator only, showing Flight Mode inverted.
You just have to remember always to toggle Flight Mode on leaving the house
and then again on returning Home.
I tend to have Flight Mode ON partly for Battery Saving purposes
(but I often forget to Switch Flight off on leaving home)
Could Samsung automate that?
perhaps with a new Old/New Behaviour switch in Settings, to give the user absolute control
For example, New Behaviour
Every once per 2 or 3, minutes check
IF WiFi is ON AND has internet access THEN
switch Flight Mode ON (=Mobile Data OFF)
ELSE
Switch Flight Mode OFF (=Mobile Data ON)
End If
I have completely automated this.
The first thing I did was to change the behaviour of Airplane Mode so that when it is selected or deselected it does not change Wi-Fi at all.
I did it a long time ago, so I can't remember what the ADB command was exactly but I think it was adb shell settings put global airplane_mode_radios wifi, bluetooth. What that does is to leave Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on when Airplane Mode is on. I also leave Bluetooth on so that my watch can talk to my phone.
I then used an app called Macrodroid, which is free for up to 5 automations I think, but in fact I paid for it anyway as it was inexpensive and I was happy to help the author.
I created two macros one which turns Airplane Mode on when Wi-Fi is connected and one that turns Airplane Mode off when Wi-Fi is not connected. In fact all that does is to turn mobile data on when I'm not connected to Wi-Fi and off when I am.
This was very easy to achieve and works flawlessly.
