Transferring a new number to SMARTY
I have just transferred a PAC code to you to transfer another number to the network. Do I need a new SIM or an eSIM ?

Just joined this morning and ordered esim. When I activate it, do I need to remove or de-activate my current O2 SIM or will the esim automatically take over? Sorry if this a naive question but I'm 84 years old and not very techy!😄

David140642 You don't need to remove or deactivate the O2 SIM, as you can run both in "Dual-SIM" mode; You may need to change the "Preferred SIM" settings to make your device use the SMARTY eSIM for data, calls & texts.
If you have ported your O2 number to SMARTY, the O2 SIM should be deactivated by the carrier and will not work anymore after the port is complete. If that is the case, then there is no need to keep the O2 SIM and you can remove it from your phone, or remove the eSIM profile.

KhalilH_2370815 PAC transfers do not operate over weekends, so it may take a little longer

KhalilH_2370815 You don't need a new SIM for the transferred number to work, you just need to wait for the transfer to complete.
Just a heads up that your RCS/iMessage messages may show you sending as the old number. Here's how to fix it if you come across that issue: Phone number not completely changed over | SMARTY Community
